1. "Their faults came to light", so-called letter which was claimed to be written by "PKK Central Committee" and proposed that missing HADEP administrators Tanis and Deniz were at the hands of PKK was not accepted as an evidence by court. Father Suayip Tanis and driver Ibrahim Bahsis who had been detained for three days because of the so-called letter were released.

2. "The only way is serhildan", PKK Party Assembly, in its third extended session, emphasized that the only way to improve the process was serhildans. The statement at the end of the session said "Our patience has come to an end".

1. - Kurdish Observer - "Their faults came to light":

So-called letter which was claimed to be written by "PKK Central Committee" and proposed that missing HADEP administrators Tanis and Deniz were at the hands of PKK was not accepted as an evidence by court. Father Suayip Tanis and driver Ibrahim Bahsis who had been detained for three days because of the so-called letter were released.

Serdar Tanis' father Suayip Tanis and truck driver Ibrahim Bahsis who had been under detention for three days on the grounds that they brought a letter in which missing HADEP (People's Democracy Party) administrators Serdar Tanis and Ebubekir Deniz were at the hands of PKK were released.

The so-called letter which its forged nature was evident was not taken into consideration as an evident by the court. Interrogated by Security Directorate, father Tanis and Bahsis were released to be tried without arrest by Interrogation Judge Office in spite of the arrest demand of Silopi Public Prosecutory.

"Conspiracy was evident"

Suayip Tanis, making a statement to our sister newspaper Ozgur Politika, stated that the incidence was a conspiracy by some forces within the state, adding, "In my testimony I said, considering that the letter said where my son was kept, then let the state allow me to ask for my kind. But the policemen replied 'We do not become a part of it'. Conspiracy was evident." Making a call to find his son Serdar Tanis and Ebubekir Deniz, the father Tanis said words to the effect: "We ask for everybody, including state officials, as a necessity of respect to democracy and human rights, to make all the necessary attempts to find our kinds alive or dead."

PKK: They are fed by lies

PKK Party Assembly replied the Turkish state which tried to impute the "disappearance" incident to PKK with a forged latter including a lot of material mistakes: "Facing the call of public to find the missing persons, they resort to lies as the most relevant way." The written statement by the Party Assembly pointed out that the statement "Here is Sirnak Republic" by state officials in Sirnak province was enough to explain everything. Stressing that Ankara government was tolerant to the incidence, the Assembly said, Upon public continuously bringing the incidence up, the state has resorted to lies as the most relevant way. Those responsible for the 'disappearance' are high state officials and provincial officials who has declared themselves as 'Sirnak Republic'. The attempts to impute the incidence to PKK are absolutely baseless, dangerous lies. We call the Turkish State to give account for its war crimes in the past, to give explanation about the fate of Serdar Tanis and Ebubekir Deniz, and to give a positive reply to our Party's peace attempts."

Altan: Is Silopi wild and lawless place?

Prof. Mehmet Altan, spokesperson of the press delegation who had gone to Silopi in order to make investigations on the matter, said that "If there is a Turkish Republic and responsible of personal security, finding the facts is the mission of the state." Pointing out that the delegation would complete its report before the end of the national holiday, Altan said as follows: "The problem is not this or that took them, the most important thing is what happened to them. The essence of the matter is two persons are missing, who are they? The state exists for them not to disappear. The state has not still replied our questions. Is Silopi wild and lawless place, whoever wants, takes whoever he wants to take. Saying 'PKK has kidnapped' does not solve the problem. We are trying to find the answer of the question 'What happened to them?'. We are trying to find where they are kept, to find them alive.

2. - Ozgur Politika - "The only way is serhildan":

PKK Party Assembly, in its third extended session, emphasized that the only way to improve the process was serhildans. The statement at the end of the session said "Our patience has come to an end".

Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) declared that it would begin a democratic people rebellion with a slogan "We Have No Patience, Either Freedom or Serhildan". PKK released a statement on the resolutions of its 3. Extended Assembly session held on 27 February-3 March 2001.

Stressing that the only way to be an alternative to the process is carrying out serhildans in every field where Kurdistan has the first place in the leadership of PKK, the statement mentioned "Our slogan is 'Our Patience Has Come to An End, Either Freedom or Serhildan'. Our serhildans are the only way to make forces incapable of making progress towards democratization give up their hesitant and unstable stance. We can reach to Democratic Republic by only this way."

Insistence on Democratic Republic

Having said that with the session they showed their insistence on transition from Oligarchic Republic to Democratic Republic, PKK Party Assembly continued as follows: "Democratic Republic is the only regime which represents common interests of our peoples. At the heart of the recent economic and political crisis lies this incapability of transition from oligarchic rule to Democratic Republic."

"Alliances are necessity"

The Assembly had the following to say: "Wee see that it a historical necessity for ruling forces in the region which are increasingly becoming marginal to restructure themselves and to make alliances with revolutionary-democratic forces in the region."

Dirty cooperation

The statement, having pointed out that in Turkey gangs within the state which make profit from the special war see every dirty way as relevant to bring war up again with the cooperation of PUK (Kurdistan Patriotic Unity) in South Kurdistan (Iraqi Kurdistan), added, "Within the country provocation and operations and in South Kurdistan the planned war aim to terrorize the masses and to liquidate guerrilla forces. In order to prevent such a dangerous plan our Party calls democratic public to claim their duties to do their best."
